I am Founding Director of Èta Shipping.

With more than 20 years of experience on board, with all kinds of vessels and in all ranks from AB to Captain, I am an experienced shipping professional committed to improve the shipping industry. 
I have an additional experience of 15 years in ship owning and management as managing director of a shipping company. 

Over the last 10 years I have been growing convinced that by increasing the efficiency of a ship, its crew and the transport chain of which the ship is a part, we have the answer to the challenges we will be facing in the nearby and far future.

Therefore I established Èta Shipping:

Efficiency through a modular design, using ‘proven ‘technology’

Efficiency by reducing fuel consumption, crew costs and maintenance

Efficiency through better cargo handling

This will result in: Significant reduction of harmful emissions, increased efficiency of sea transport, increased safety at sea and the possibility of integrating shipping into transport chain algorithms, which will make the transport chain much more efficient and thus sustainable. 

I am Sam’s wife and we have two children. Since 1996 we have been in the shipping business together. I work for Èta Shipping as Office Manager, and help out with the organisation and administration where necessary.
 
When I met Sam he was already sailing and in the shipping business. When we got the opportunity to start as part owner of a coaster, I decided to join him on board as AB/ Cook. I sailed along and got acquainted with shipping and all the work on board a ship. It was an exciting and fun time. I have seen and experienced a lot!
The direct contact with our staff and suppliers and the short lines in communication, appealed to me very much.
 
In the years that followed, Sam started ForestWave Navigation with a companion. The Company grew rapidly and it quickly changed into a more professional organisation. From that point on, I had no active role in the organisation anymore.
 
I have always been involved and follow all developments with great interest. I find the energy transition in shipping that has to take place nowadays very important! Working in an innovative way to make shipping more efficient and sustainable, brings a lot of necessary challenges, but it is time for renewal!
 
Together we have started a new adventure with Èta Shipping, with an enthusiastic group of people. Being part of these developments, makes it very interesting and fun for me.

I am the Managing Director of Marvox. 
Marvox ("Voice of the Sea") offers sustainable, economically sound solutions in shipbuilding and contracting.

I am looking forward to cooperate with Sam Gombra and Èta Shipping. SNN has awarded us a VIA grant for a feasibility study on plug-in hybrid marine propulsion systems. Sam and I are committed to developing a new kind of ecological ship, one with a minimal ecological footprint, thanks to the use of the latest technologies. Combining our efforts means that we can utilize an integral approach.

I have known Sam for many years and we have worked together on several projects before. I can not wait to start working with Èta Shipping as soon as possible, because I strongly believe 1000% that this will enable us to take great steps forward to a more sustainable mode of transport! The synergy resulting from the collaboration with Sam is very good. We differ enormously in approach and attitude, but the combination is good for many great ideas and solutions.
